MR. OWEN CHARLES JONES, JR., 71, of Huntington, widower of Nina June Jones, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Ridgelawn Abbey of Devotion with Pastor Melvin Williams officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. He was born April 30, 1931, in Providence, R.I., a son of the late Owen Charles Jones Sr. and Sadie Higgins Jones. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and also at Steiner's. He was a member of VFW Post #1064 and American Legion Post 16. He was a former counselor at West Virginia Boy's State. He is survived by a grandson and his wife, David "Tater" and Amy Seibert of Huntington; a granddaughter, Kerri Seibert of Proctorville, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Haley Seibert. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2002. Members of VFW Post 1064 will conduct military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
